SYNOPSIS

“Sniper Alley – To My Brother” tells the story of Džemil Hodžić and his extraordinary project “Sniper Alley Photo,” which collects images from world-renowned war photojournalists taken during the Siege of Sarajevo from 1992 to 1996.

On May 3, 1995, Džemil and his brother Amel were playing outside when a sniper began shooting at them. Amel died in his mother’s arms at the age of only 16.

From that moment, Džemil’s childhood was inexorably interrupted.

Over the years, he achieved a titanic endeavor involving the greatest world-famous photojournalists who had documented the Siege of Sarajevo, capturing many children, including Amel.

With his project, Džemil went far beyond and soon “Sniper Alley” became a collective treasure.

Džemil’s story is the heart of the documentary around which, like many branches of a tree, incredible human stories, true living legends, unfold in their own direction.

Men and women who chose to be on the right side of history regardless of ethnicity and political ideology became flowers of resistance.

Art, cinema, music, and culture as spiritual weapons against war and annihilation.

Children who try to make sense of what is happening around them, transforming pain into actions and projects of inestimable value, a legacy to leave for future generations.

“Sniper Alley – to my brother” is dedicated to Amel Hodžić, who loved to draw and dreamed of becoming an artist, and to all the children who, despite living through the horrors of war, continue to dream.
